Dr. Mario Moncada, PT, DPT
Dr. Mario Moncada a licensed physical therapist in 5 states including New York. He received his master’s in physical therapy from Boston University in 2003 and then received his doctorate in physical therapy from Western University of Health Sciences in 2014.
Dr Moncada began his career in physical therapy in an acute rehabilitation hospital and then moved into the home health setting for the last 15 years where he has also owned and managed a small business in the past.
He has a strong belief in educating his patients in order to give them the tools they need to build the self-efficacy skills to carry on once they have received the benefits of his services. This philosophy led to his interest in education beyond the treatment arena and into academia. He is an associate professor of physical therapy having held positions at different universities since 2016 and is also a credentialed American Physical Therapy Association clinical instructor. He has given national lectures on physical therapy education topics.
With experience in treating a myriad of varying conditions including orthopedic, neurologic, wound care and chronic pain syndromes, he is also a board certified geriatric clinical specialist with advanced clinical expertise in geriatric rehabilitation.
Dr Moncada is committed to providing the best evidence-based care to his patients with the ultimate goal of delivering innovative, quality healthcare to his patients in an environment of compassion, respect, patient safety, and education. This approach while also coupled with providing a program that recognizes the individual and adjusts to their needs to develop a goal-oriented rehabilitation program that addresses the patient’s rehabilitation potential.
His other areas of interest include service to his profession. He has held various positions at the state and national level within physical therapy from government affairs committee member, assembly representative, APTA sections member, delegate to the APTA house of delegates helping to create policy for physical therapists across the United States. He is also passionate about grassroots advocacy for the profession of physical therapy and patient access to physical therapy having regularly attended physical therapy legislative day at the state level and federal advocacy forum in Washington D.C.
His other areas of interest are in mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, attending music concerts and traveling the world.
